This poster is based on the style of Archie Comics. Archie Comics began in 1939 (originally under the name MLJ Comics), and were quite popular in the ‘50s. In the 1970s and 80s, the characters were actually licensed for use in a series of Christian comic books—the company was Spire Christian Comics. This endeavor featured such enticing titles as “Archie’s Parables,” Archie’s Clean Slate,” and “Jughead’s Soul Food.”
