15 Minutes Later…

Well, I already made fun of heroin, it was about time to try crack.

Speaking of sexy party drugs, the New York Times had a good article yesterday about a photography exhibit opening in Berlin at the Helmut Newton Foundation. (Oh come on, Helmut Newton? Racy naked lady photos? It was an okay segway.)

The article provided interesting commentary on not just the exhibit, but on Germany, and its sense of celebrity and modesty in wake of Word War II. Unlike Americans, Germans aren’t in the habit of running up to celebrities in public and gushing over them. And they find celebrities who are “famous for being famous” (i.e. Paris Hilton) to be downright embarrassing. (Not that there aren’t plenty of us Americans who agree…) What with all the silly little ways for one to be crowned “celebrity” (going on a reality TV show, releasing an internet sex tape, etc.), I do wonder sometimes if we’ll ever just get tired of it—if someday there will be so many pseudo celebrities that the concept of fame will be rendered meaningless.

You know you’re a real American when you make an internet comic starring yourself.

PS This is the video Chris is talking about.
