Wrote American Gods…Friends with Alan Moore

Sorry this comic is a day late…but the mini comics are printed!  Now I just have to finish folding and stapling them.

Bera has been asking for a comic featuring the mod (specifically him).  Finally I have done one.  It looks weird because I was rushed, using dip ink for the first time since summer, and then there was architecture involved. (Damn staircases.)

The debate last night was pretty aggressive.  I liked Jim Lehrer.  10:00 on a Friday night, and Hampshire’s Main Lecture Hall was packed with students who wanted to watch.  I can only imagine what the vice presidential debate will bring.

As for Paul Newman: what is one to say? Hollywood will never know a nicer or prettier man.

I loved American Gods when I read it five years ago, but if Gaiman’s other works are any indication, I probably wouldn’t like it as much today. He’s a great writer – and he seems to have become lazy because of this. Anansi Boys seems like it was written in his sleep – sure, the writings fun, but the characters are all archetypes and it’s ridiculously predictable. Also, he seems to have trouble intergrating mature themes into his stories without going “LOOK I HAVE SEX AND VIOLENCE”.

Alan Moore, on the other hand, fully deserves his reputation – I don’t love everything he’s done, but Watchmen is of course awesome, and Top 10 is crazy fun.

P.S. You’ve just opened a can of worms. Now that Bera gets a comic, EVERYONE will want a comic (including me!)

  3. Athena Says:

Well, then everyone will just have to do very funny things. Preferably ones that include lots of sex and violence.

I totally knew he was British. Well, I was pretty sure. Mostly. And it IS awesome that he’s Jewish. That I really should have known.

  5. Hannah Says:

I’d like to point out that I also argued that he was a Brit. And, Bera’s expression in the second-to-last panel makes the whole comic.

  6. Athena Says:

Haha! I definitely wanted him to be an American. The Jewish part is good, though.
Yeah, when Bera saw the last two panels, he was like, “Hey, I got pupils this time!!!”
