Oh Ontario, Oh Jennifer Jason Leigh
Actually, it’s Manitoba I’m headed to tomorrow. Tomorrow morning the Currier Family will head out in our stuffed-to-the-brim Volkswagon Jetta for a fascinating drive through northern Minnesota and beyond, until we reach Winnipeg. People I Know Who Will Be At the Winnipeg Folk Festival: Okkervil River, Iron & Wine, Neko Case, and Elvis Costello. Also, apparently, Loudon Wainwright III, i.e., the dad from “Undeclared.”
This year, we’re bringing two tents.
PS As for the comic… I couldn’t get more than 20 minutes into “Never Back Down.” Phoebe was quite happy to finish it by herself.
PPS My dad finally got a cell phone. His ringtone is “Mannish Boy,” by Muddy Waters.

1. Enjoy the Winnipeg Festival! I’m highly jealous of you, given that lineup. Especially Loudon Wainwright! He’s related to Rufus, you know.
2. Oddly enough, I am listening to Mannish Boy right now.

Casey!
Odd coincidence… But it is a pretty badass song.
Just so you know, your upcoming trip has been marked with much gusto on my summer calendar.

P.S. – I really like the way the art has been going recently! Very many kudos to you.

Thanks, Casey! I think I am fiiiinally starting to get more relaxed about drawing. Didn’t Jeph Jacques say it takes about a hundred painstaking strips before you find a rhythm? Or maybe that was the Beatles, saying you have to write 50 songs before you’re any good.

I’ve never heard of anyone who knew Loudon from his acting career.
His concert at the Iron Horse was amazing. You could shout out any song from his 40-year carreer and he could play it off the top of his head.
