Never Gonna Ring That Bell
Back from Winnipeg! More on that on Wednesday. For now…some pre-Div III hyperventilating.
I recently watched a five-part series about Div III put out by the Hampshire communications department. They followed one Division III student for the whole year, from her project’s beginning to completion. The student was Taryn Johnson, an animation student—and a fellow former signer for Fire & Ice Burlesque.
Her project is intimidatingly awesome, but the video series is helpful to look at now as I continue to plan the structure of my project. Also, Taryn’s a talented lady: watching her work develop is cool even if you don’t go to Hampshire! So go watch it.

So your Div III is writing Nate´s old comic?
I watched the Div III video the other week myself. I assure you that I am frightened and scared and don’t even have a committee.

Who needs a *real* Div III? Fake is the new real… and the new black! So I think you should spend the next year providing amusing illustrations to my mildly sociopathic fictions. We’ll be like Kavalier and Clay except with less homoerotic subtext (and less Judaism)!

Tabitha: Man, I should just write Nate’s old comic. Or rather, I should just turn in all of Nate’s finished comics as my own.
Axel: Oh man…illustrating your bizarre world would be fun. However, I don’t think I’m allowed to illustrate *anything* for Div III, given that I haven’t taken many art classes during my time at Hampshire. Upside: we can be alcoholic writers together!

Dear Athena,
I love your comics, I must tell you again, and I’m glad you had such a great time in Berlin! I had a similar un-life changing time in Paris, though I loved being there. I also know you well enough to be sure that your Div III will absolutely kick ass, because the little things you do- comics, videos, songs- are all great! What direction are you wanting to go with it so far?

Simone: Thanks for the compliments! As for Div III…heh, I still have a lot of thinking to do. I’d love to do comics or something equally silly, but it looks like it may depend more on the classes I’ve taken…and I haven’t taken many art classes. Which means I’ll probably be doing a lot of writing next year. Hopefully it’ll be fun. (As fun as spending half of Div III in Paris??? Maybe not. But fun still.)

I am not going to make any “anti-snob” jokes.
