Hurrrk

Yes, I am still sick. No, the sickness has not involved any vomit. It’s just that when I’m stressed, I relax by picturing myself vomiting. That, or getting punched in the face. Or chopped in half. And I guess I’m still pretty stressed about finishing Div II/beginning Div III. So there have been a lot of gory mental images lately.

Visiting with Dad and the grandparents and Uncle Ben was nice, though, despite my being sick and low-energy. I got to talk with Uncle Ben about Christoph Waltz for a few wonderful minutes. And Dad and I took a beautiful night walk down Henshaw Ave in Northampton. It’s full of houses that look straight off of a Hollywood set for a haunted house. They are just absurd: three and four stories tall, wrought-iron fences, big sloping porches. Dad guesses most of them were built shortly after the Civil War.

Last week in my graphic novel class we read “Watchmen.” This week is “Shortcomings.” I’ve read both of them before, but they’re great books, so who cares. I hope I’m healthy enough to join in the discussion with vigor.

Shucks, I hope you feel better!
I really like range of expressions here. Who knew vomiting could be so dynamic! Also, If you played an instrument right now, it would be the Pukelele.

  2. Evan Says:

    Athena

    please continue this comic

    in a five-week series

    of you vomiting.

    For some awful reason

    I love this.

  3. Phoebe Says:

I agree with Evan, this is wonderful.

And maybe we should live on Henshaw instead of Grand.

Aaaaand you’re in a graphic novel class? Man, Hampshire’s got Grinnell beat there!

  4. Ross Currier Says:

    Hey Athena -

Good to see you, and the haunted mansions. Hope you’re feeling better. We’ll be seeing Phoebe this weekend. I’ll raise an Amana Colony beer toast to you.

Goldfeather: I puke in your general direction.

Evan: I love you. And your poetic commentary.

Phoebe: You would looooove Henshaw, I’m serious. And yeah, the graphic novel course is the shit.

Dad: It was great seeing you. I wish you could’ve stuck around a little longer, and that I could’ve been a little healthier. I hope the Amana beer is as good as the growler you bought me. Cause that was delicious.
