My Lovely G and NYC

This comic is from my sketchbook and one week old. I went to Vassar to visit G last weekend, on October 9th – 11th. While there, I got to see her play her violin while Lisa Kudrow read some narration. And I also got to see Pete Seeger warble a few tunes on the Vassar lawn. But the best part was eating cheese fries and pancakes in the 24/7 Acropolis diner while drunkenly discussing sex.

Man, I do wish I had me a bit of money.  It’s my own damn fault for not working over the summer, but damnit things like grad schools and summer road trips and new laptops seem to require a frustrating amount of cash.  Things like food and booze and coffee and comic books also add up.

Oh hey here are a few internet things to look at:

* Three men with variations on the same name in two a softer world comics: 1) Jeffrey Rowland of Overcompensating, and 2) Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content and Hampshire grad Jeff Barone of Necropolis.
* The segment in this episode of This American Life about the French woman whose two daughters die made me bawl in public in a cafe in Berlin. It’s incredibly sad, but beautiful.
* Elizabeth Wurtzel is such an idiot.
* Lucy Knisley did a lovely painting featuring Mickey’s Diner in preparation for this year’s FallCon in Minneapolis.
* Apparently these days, women’s pay is 77% of men’s. Progress!

So I listened to that episode of The American Life at work today and it was quite beautiful. I have only ever listened once in a great while, but I may start to catch up on interesting episodes at work from now on. It is so therapeutic to listen to a calm voice chat/read to you. YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER!

Also, GRAD SCHOOL/LIFE AFTER COLLEGE! I AM NOT READY AS MADE APPARENT BY ALL CAPS! Have you decided to pursue grad school? If you have good luck!

Elise and Mathilde always makes me cry.

Woman’s pay is 77% of men. Star Wars came out in 1977. All the best characters are men. Therefore, the pay ratio should be capped at 77% and possibly reduced.

William: YES! TAL convert! It’s so good. And so free! My mom claims Ira’s voice is so fast she can’t understand him, but I agree with you that it’s really calming.
As for grad school…I think I’m gonna apply to at least one or two places, and also search for a few semi-interesting jobs and internships…and then see what I get. If I get nothing, I’ll take up residence on your plush Grad School Apartment couch and be that leech friend who refuses to be brushed off.

Ben: Sob! I’m glad you’ve listened to that one.

Dylan: Damn, you hit me with the logic. My only-77%-adequate brain is no match for that.
