Counting Down the Hours

Do you see the “search” box over to the right?
From now on, you can search for specific Action Athena comics using that.

Perhaps you have noticed the tweaking I’ve been doing to this site over the past few days as I’ve made room for some shiny new Oh No Robot equipment. Oh No Robot is a free service that allows webcomics to transcribe the dialogue and description of each comic and save them in a database, so that readers can search for a particular comic by typing a little description/dialogue from it into the search box.

But here’s the catch: first we have to transcribe them all! I’m gonna be doing lots of that myself, but hey, if you ever find yourself with a lazy afternoon looming ahead, what better way to pass the time than by transcribing my comics?

It’s very easy: just click the “TRANSCRIBE THIS COMIC!” button below any comic (this button disappears once a comic has been transcribed), and fill in the dialogue and necessary actions/etc. There’s an explanation of how to do it on the Oh No Robot page, but basically, hit return after each line of dialogue, leave a blank line between each panel, and don’t bother with “PANEL 1,” “PANEL 2,” etc.

Does that make sense? Hooray!

Who’s the guy in your committee panel? At first I thought it was Jim except he’s SMILING IN A FRIENDLY MANNER so no way is it him

  2. Aero Says:

Oh, and I will totally transcribe some comics.

I just wish I had access to a searchable Doonesbury database. There are so many of those I want to reference all the time (yesterday the “Another Child Left Behind” comic would have been very useful).

  3. Goldfeather Says:

Okay we may need to orchestrate our airport arrival on the 19th, because I think we’re getting in really close to each other!!!

Also, what the hell is wingstock?

  4. Aero Says:

Wingstock is this thing Chris Semple hosts where they buy an Aircraft Carrier or two (basically a thing full of chicken wings and other chickeny things) from this pub/grill place called The Hangar. Last year it was for the debates, I think, I dunno what they’re doing this year.

    Basically, Chris Semple hates vegetarians.

  5. Steve Says:

No, no. More like three or four aircraft carriers.

  6. Sarah Currier Says:

I transcribed this one and will now wait anxiously to see if I was approved…

  7. Athena Says:

Dylan: Jim is moderately smiley in our committee meetings. But Nell sure has him beat. Thanks for the offer to help transcribe! It’s a fairly tedious task, I know.

    Goldfeather: ORCHESTRATE AWAY!

And to clarify Wingstock: I believe there were FOUR aircraft carriers this time. Though I only joined in on the french fries/onion rings part of the event.

    Mom: You are so approved!
