Sketch Dump
These are some things I liked from my sketchbooks this year.
Some things to be excited about (if you are me, anyway):
* I got a DART grant (click that for a little sneak peak of the first three covers), which means I’ll be able to print 30-40 copies of each issue of Burn Book with an online publishing company. Maybe $390 does not sound like a lot to everybody, but it does to me, so I’m really, really grateful that my project was among those selected for the grants.
* I am planning a Div III presentation and I think it’s gonna be real cool. I’ve booked the East Lecture Hall for Thursday, April 22. I’ll tell you more later.
* It’s spring! It’s an orgasm every time I step outside.
So hooray for all of that stuff. Less of a hooray? The hipsters egged our mod. Well, okay, it’s unclear whether they intended to egg our mod or just the mod upstairs, but the end result is, there are smelly eggs all over our front door and window. YAY HIPSTERS!
PS ConBust tomorrow!

I love. Koko and All Ball. Everywhere. But this particular version. In particular.
Also, are those adorable lesbian aliens?

Is that first one the doctor from Lost in Space being left behind? Because he kind of looks like that guy. Also, I have never been able to look at Koko the same since I heart about her sexual harassment case. Apparently that gorilla loves breasts.

As for presentations—the pain of possibly conflicting with other presentations will KILL me. But seriously, what time slot did you pick? Because as much as I want to see everybody’s presentation I want to see yours AS a presentation…does that make sense?
As for eggs, I think that the best approach would be simply to inquire whether or not they were free-range. And then make the bitch-asses clean it.

This is so so cool, Athena. I really like what you’ve been doing with eyes recently. The fluidity and movement that you create with these sketches is really impressive. I cannot help but be reminded a little bit of some of Jerry Holkins’ work, particularly by the sketches near the top. Top notch.

Elizabeth: Isn’t Koko awesome?? I recently read that photo-filled kid’s book about her and Ball; it was great. And yeah, those are totally gay alien ladies.
Phoebs: Thanks! I loved looking through your (compulsively perfect) sketchbook and art over break. You are incredible.
William: I haven’t seen Lost in Space, so no, I guess it’s just some random space dude. And I actually hadn’t heard about Koko’s harassment case! I just read a bunch on it, though. Sounds like it was resolved okay. Man. I’m glad my job does not involve deciding whether or not it’s appropriate or not to flash a gorilla.
Tabitha: I’m glad you’re excited to see it! I’m getting nervous, but now it’s facebook official, so I guess I’ve gotta go through with it…
Casey: Thank you! Ha! It’s hard to imagine my comics ever looking as flashy as Penny Arcade, but it’s an interesting direction to move toward…
Hannah: It might as well be! ugh. We are sad, exhausted fatties.
Jon: Daaaaang, I’m so sorry I missed it! I will definitely make up for it over the summer, though.
