The Punchbuggy Tour
It’s the Punchbuggy Tour! From left to right: MK Reed, intern Sally Bloodbath, Ken Dahl, and Liz Baillie. Man. Cartoonists have pretty cool names these days.
In case you guys didn’t notice, I was excited about this event. It’s not every day an indie cartoonist comes to Hampshire College, let alone four. In addition to plugging it on this site, I sent out about a million emails, put up announcements in Hampshire’s student daily digest, mentioned it on the Cross Hatch, and postered all around the dorms. Because I’m a loser, I even showed up early to straighten chairs.
But it was worth it. About 20 people showed up, despite the rain and imminent Div III deadlines, and Punchbuggy showed us all a great time. Their combination of comic-slideshow-read-alouds and ukulele pop covers was so fun. And they all make such great comics! After the show, I gave them all copies of my minis, and bought four books. And guys: they are awesome books. I’m gonna be recommending this stuff for a long while.
Anyway, here are some photos:

Sally Bloodbath tells a story about dream guys and formaldehyde.

Liz Baillie and Ken Dahl have got something to say.

MK Reed takes us on a roadtrip with a douchebag in Cross County.

Singing about girls.

Liz Baillie talks about being gay in the bathroom with cigarettes in My Brain
Hurts: Volume 2.

Boys don’t cry. But Ken Dahl might.

Ken Dahl tells us lots and lots about herpes (like the fact that we all probably
have it already) in Monsters.

MK Reed joins in with the jamming. (Are you appreciating the Frank Frazetta
background throughout all of this?)

The crowd swarms the table.

Tired cartoonists.
If you’d like to learn more about these guys, the Daily Cross Hatch has done great pieces about all of ‘em. So go for it: MK Reed, Sally Bloodbath, Ken Dahl, and Liz Baillie.

Oh wow, thank you!
I enjoyed your book so much. I have been spouting herpes facts to anyone who will listen ever since. And I loved what you said about autobiographical comics in the interview on the Cross Hatch.
Thanks so much for coming!
