I figured I should post the front/back of this flyer I made because OH WOW, my presentation of Burn Book is this Thursday! That’s just three days away!

It’s gonna be good fun, folks. I’ll be playing songs (both covers and originals) on my guitar, reading aloud from the magazine, and trying my damnedest to make an ass of myself so that the rest of you can have fun and feel comfortable. Then again, watching me swear and tell embarrassing personal stories in front of my committee may make us all real uncomfortable. But you should still come.

And while I’m on the subject of Hampshire and its nontraditional educational system…

Ten days ago, Hampshire was listed as Number 1 Hipster School on Huffington Post.  (To be fair, they make no mention as to whether the numbers correspond to ranking.)  Number 2 is my dad’s alma mater, Wesleyan University.  Then Bard, Sarah Lawrence, NYU, Oberlin (I’ve got a cousin there), RISD, UC Berkeley, Vassar (hooray Goldfeather!), and finally SCAD (comics programs for the win!).

This “Number 1 Hipster” thing has me thinking about another thing at which Hampshire College was Number 1.  We were the first college to officially divest from the Israeli occupation of Palestine.  We were also the first college to have our openly gay president get married.  But if we’re Number 1 Hipster School, I guess we must’ve just been doing all that ironically.

Hampshire’s president, Ralph Hexter (you may remember him from a recent post about Drag Ball), has written an open response to the HuffPo piece.
