Texts from Goldfeather

I know, I know, I’m happy that Sarah’s doing well in Brooklyn, happy that she now has jobs as both a violin teacher and an usher at Lincoln Center (!!!). And I’m really excited to think about visiting her before too long. But on dull Northfield evenings like this one, when I’ve got no work tomorrow, I just wish she was around, if only for a crossword and a pudding cake, or hell, even to watch the bad episodes of Twin Peaks.

Never fear, I’m not moping that much. Zinefest was fantastic! Thank you so much to everybody who came by and bought/looked at my comics! Thanks to Tom Kaczynski and Lance Ward for having such beautiful tables on either side of mine! Thank you to Sarah Morean & Crew for organizing such a great event! Here’s a picture Madelyn took:

EDIT: Jesus Christ!! Harvey Pekar died?! I just saw the man speak in Northampton two months ago! Holy shit. Now I feel even lamer about my moping. Unless moping is the perfect tribute to the curmudgeon of all curmudgeons? I think I better spend some time rereading American Splendor this evening.

Looking at your table makes me think that you should really have some sort of an Actionathena costume…cape comes to mind, but maybe a vest? I am sorry for your loss. I mean that sincerely because I know what Pekar meant to you.

  2. William Says:

    HE DIED? What a quitter.
P.S Let’s see each other sometime? I was going to come to Zinefest this weekend, but my tires were slashed when I got done working that morning.

  3. Goldfeather Says:

    COME TO HERE.
And surely hipster-watch will get old…?? I’ll be back in the midwest before you know it.

Also, I’m so sorry to hear Harvey Pekar died. I know you were a huge fan.

Also ALSO, who made the giant Action Athena banner?? When with the merchandise??!!

  4. Alison Says:

    Athena,

Maddie brought home Geek, Slut, Hipster and Hick from the con, and I read them all feverishly. They were awesome! Each one of them had at LEAST one story that caught me and had me reading it over several times.

Long story short = you’re cool, and I really liked your comics. We should hang out one of these days, as I’m bumming around Northfield with not much to do. :-)

Mom: Well, I could just wear my Wonder Woman costume? Or I guess the Minnesota T-shirt could be part of an Action Athena costume.

William: Not coming because of slashed tires? What a quitter! No not really. That sucks.

Goldfeather: Mom made the banner! She’s so crafty.

Alison: Thank you! I’m so glad you liked them! I find that now that I’m sending them out into the world (via zinefest and stuff) I get so nervous about them, I can’t even open them! ugh. So it’s good to hear they’re being enjoyed.

  6. Athena Says:

PS YES Alison, we should hang out in Nfld sometime!
