Chris Monroe
By “being a badass” I mean “writing children’s books.”
For those unfamiliar with her comic, “Violet Days,” here is one of my favorite strips:

Hey, I wonder what Chris Monroe has to say about Lutefisk? Oh look:

Harsh, Chris. Really harsh.
For those cartoonists with less negative feelings about air-dried whitefish, the Lutefisk Sushi Artists’ Potluck/Original Artwork Hanging is tomorrow from 1:00-3:00pm at Altered Esthetics. The gallery opening is next Friday at 7:00pm. Please come!

Hey, I spent the better part of three years working in Duluth. Based on my experience, being a badass (or a determinedly independent creative type) in Duluth involves drinking beer, eating pizza (or maybe Coneys), and making music (or is that just TBT?).
Hmmm…does Bullseye Silkscreen (on Superior Street) have any t-shirts with Chris Monroe’s lutefisk panel on ‘em? That would be quite the thing for a holiday party up at St. Olaf.

Oh, one note, Bob would probably be recognized in Duluth, even if he was wearing dark glasses outside of Coney Island, thanks, in part, to the Chris Monroe t-shirts. Bob was actually picked up by the police in Long Branch, New Jersey, where, I guess, he didn’t fit in.

Shucks. I am so flattered.
Thank you for the very cool comic, Athena.

Dad: beer, pizza, and music? Let’s all move to Duluth! Also, I can’t stop CRINGING about my Bob Dylan/Duluth/Jersey error! How stupid of me. There is no excuse.
Bruce: I am a member of that fan club!
Chris: Thank you!! I was so sorry I missed you when you were in St Paul recently. It won’t happen next time!
