Cheese-Loving Vegetarians

I hope I haven’t accidentally offended a bunch of vegans out there (like, for instance, my not-so-fond-of-dairy little sister who drove back to college today).  Do I have a significant vegan readership?  We will see.  But I would rather eat cheese than my words.

Did you forget that MIX is this weekend?  Did you RSVP yet?  Like, especially to the special screening of Scott Pilgrim which is OMG tomorrow night???  Just checking. Now how about you watch this video featuring work from a bunch of the different exhibitors (including me):

If you aren’t sold on this event yet, you are impossible.

PS My latest comic for Broken Pencil magazine is now online. I’ve been making comics for those guys for two years now! They’re pretty great.

I’m sold, just oh-so clearly in the wrong metropolitan region of these fair states.

Great comic. Same goes for asshole atheists, too. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us, you pricks! (…Nor should you become a convenient mouthpiece for FoxNews’ “Christianity is under attack in America” narrative like this young woman who came up with a very nice career-boosting book-writing gimmick for herself: http://www.amazon.com/Losing-Our-Religion-Liberal-Christianity/dp/1439173168/ref=pd_sim_b_1 *sigh*)

This makes me feel old. I was born before your parents even met!

Tabitha: Wish you could’ve been there. I miss your face.

Ian: Thanks! And that is very true about atheists. Some of them sound just as fanatical/insane as the worst religious nuts. (Also: sweet jesus, that book…)

Lupi: Psh! I was born not long after they met, so we’re probably both old. Also, it was cool getting to hear about your husband’s book at KFAI last weekend! I’m looking forward to seeing you guys on that camping trip in September!

    Hey Athena!
I saw your comic on gURL.com and clicked on it cause my name too is Athena, and my best friend’s last name is Currier…. I found a lot of similarities between you and I. By that I only mean 3 haha. I have hairy arms too! In the sixth grade I didn’t shave my legs (heck I didn’t even in 7th!) either and was made fun of for it. Over this summer I was dating a guy who was good friends with the most attractive boy in my grade and he would always tell him how attractive I thought he was. It was embarressing. Not the same thing but it reminded me of it. Then AGIAN! I’m a vegitarian too! Born and raised. Wierd. anyway have a good day

Oh my gosh!!! A fellow Athena!!!! This is a red letter day to be sure!
    Hello Fellow Athena!
I am impressed by all of those similarities: I’ve never known anyone else (outside of my family) with the last name Currier. And I’m glad to know there’s another Athena who is a vegetarian, and who resisted leg-shaving for awhile! I hope you like being named Athena. It’s a very, very good name.
