Name Droppings

How good was MIX?  So good.  If there is such a thing as too good, MIX probably was.  If I were to compose a list of “Top Ten Weekends” of my life, this weekend would make the cut.  A rundown:

Thursday:
* Blue Monday 5:30-11:30
* Packing (so many Burn Books in the trunk of the Le Sabre)
* Precious Little Film Fest at St Anthony Main
* Punch Pizza

Friday:
* Attempted swimming at Lake Nokomis
* Rainy walk instead
* Got French Milk at Magers & Quinn
* Got coconut ice cream at  Midtown Global Market
* Finally saw A Serious Man
* Book signing (Will Dinski, Zak Sally, Aaron Renier) at Big Brain
* Cartoonists drinking at the 501 Club

Saturday:
* Up at 7:45
* Greeted at the Soap Factory by Brian Heater
* Set up table with tablemates Danno Klonowski and Erik Nelson
* Donuts from the Donut Collective
* MIX! (9:00-5:00!) (Too many highlights to handle!)
* Something To Do With The Radio (more on that…eventually)
* MIX After-Party at Altered Esthetics
* SLEEP

I had such a great time at MIX, you guys. I think I will keep going back there for as many years as it exists, or until I die (whichever comes first). I sold some comics (thank you to anyone that bought one! I blush to picture everyone out there who could currently be flipping through a Burn Book…), talked to many amazing cartoonists and comic fans, bought some seriously incredible books, and, and…can’t figure out why I’m not living in Minneapolis already.

Oh well! Today = Blue Monday from 5:30-9:00. Same goes for the rest of the week! Perhaps I will buy myself an employee-discounted croissant with some of my fresh Burn Book money.

    It was great seeing you there! I would have love to talk with you more, but I’m absolutely HORRIFIED by other human beings. Especially cool and nice ones. It’s a curse.

    On a mostly-unrelated note, I must disagree with your statement a few posts ago that the main character of My So-Called Life is the least likable one. The least likable character is obviously Jordan Catalano!

    Donuts from the Donut Cooperative; I am SO jealous.

    Toby: It was good to see you too! I too wish I were better at not being awkward around other cool cartoonists. Somebody was commenting on how much easier we all were once we had enough beer in us. I left the after-party pretty early though, so I probably missed the best of that.
    (And you are totally right about Jordan Catalano. What a TOOL! Fortunately Brian Krakow is the best thing ever.)

    Dad: They were pretty good! One of them was grapefruit flavored. Weird, but pretty good.
