The Mike in today’s comic is the same guy from this ancient comic from the Mod 71 series.
Mike also produced a regular webcomic with several friends for quite awhile–it was called The World Wasn’t Meant.
Flanagan, the guy talking about bears, is one of the dudes behind The Future Machine.
But the project that they (and several others) were all famous for in college? COP/DETECTIVES.

It might gratify (appall?) you to know that I’ve spent the last 4 years in LA having these same conversations with basically the same cast of characters. Did we inspire the comic? Or did perhaps the comic inspire us?

Also, thanks for the link! We stopped that comic over the summer, but I’m trying to strong-arm some people to get started on a new one.

Sam: Ha ha, it’s nice to know that conversations like this still take place, they’ve just switched coasts. Post-college, I find myself surrounded by less funny conversation to break down into panels. A downside of living alone, I guess! At least I’ve got funny parents.
